"Please Help The Bro Bowl"
We got the news to come to the Bro Bowl on friday the 13th for support.
The story was shown that night. Channel 10 came through, to help save the Bro Bowl.
The skateboarding community did not. There were only about 10 skateboarders that showed up to the meeting on saturday,
October 14th 2006, and there were not enough e- mails sent to Brad Suder, the project manager.
The Tony Hawk foundation says there are over 13 million skateboarders in the United States, and only 2,000 skateparks.
Is there no reason why we couldn't get a couple hundred people to the last meeting, and a thousand or so e-mails?
The city had no idea how historical this bowl has become for the skateboarding community.
It was built about 1979 and is still in great shape. It's in the Tony Hawk Pro Skater video game which is sold and played all over the world.
The city is emphasizing history in the new park proposal by putting up expensive signs and statues,
but is willing to sacrifice a historical skateboarding landmark already there.
The Bro Bowl already meets or excedes the criteria for a landmark.
Unless the city receives enough support saying so, we could lose the Bro Bowl forever.
Please e-mail Brad Suder at brad.suder@tampagov.net and come to the last meeting on monday,
October 23rd at 5;30 pm with as many people as possible. If you can't make the meeting remember that every e-mail sent is public record.
Tell the city to leave the Bro Bowl where it's at, and help burn skateboarding into Tampa, Florida's history forever.
Please help by forwarding this e-mail into cyber space to reach as many skaters as possible, be creative, post it on myspace,
local skateparks, skate companies, and any other connections you think might help!!! - David Miller at skatefreak@tampabay.rr.com
